Designing a Glass-Enclosed Wine Room
Adding high-visibility glass walls introduces unique thermal challenges. Standard glass transfers heat rapidly and collects condensation when chilled. To maintain cellar conditions without fogging or hot spots, our builds incorporate specialized materials:
- Dual-Pane Thermal Glass: We utilize double-paned, argon-gas filled glass panels treated with low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings to reflect ambient room heat and block harmful UV rays.
- Perimeter Drop Seals: Glass doors feature hidden hydraulic drop-seals that automatically seal the bottom gap when closed, preventing cool air from escaping along the floor.
- Integrated LED Lighting: Standard lighting generates heat that degrades wine. We install low-voltage, cold-emission LED strips hidden within racking channels to illuminate your labels without raising the room temperature.

- High-Reveal Display Ledges: Angled at a 15-degree pitch, high-reveal ledges showcase your prized labels while keeping the cork fully submerged in wine to prevent drying out. Built-in LED channels cast clean accent light across the display.
- Individual Bottle Racking: Precision-milled cubbies with hand-beveled edges protect delicate paper labels as bottles are placed and retrieved. Spacing is customized to easily accommodate 750ml standards, Pinot Noir/Burgundy shapes, and large-format bottles.
- Diamond Bins & Bulk Case Storage: Ideal for high-volume storage and case-lot purchases. Solid hardwood diamond cross-bins allow you to stack identical vintages together safely without crushing lower bottles.
Material Selection: Dense, Unstained Hardwoods
- Sapele Mahogany: Exceptionally high density and strength with outstanding moisture resistance. Features a deep reddish-brown color with a rich ribbon grain.
- American Black Walnut: High strength and superior moisture resistance. Offers rich dark chocolate tones with subtle natural figure.
- Cherry: Medium-high strength with excellent moisture resistance. Displays warm amber tones that deepen gracefully over time in climate-controlled environments.
